"The most important thing about this property is simply that it is based within an historic mental asylum precinct, so it's kind of fun. (I took my teenage kids). This building is art deco style and very well kept, but includes thick metal doors in The Shining-style corridors, which can still be opened and closed and bolted, and would once have been used for the protection of staff. The asylum precinct is large and various buildings have been similarly repurposed and the grounds and gardens are very beautiful and well-maintained. There are several themed activities including a ghost tour and escape room available, though not on the night we were there. This particular place didn't offer any meals but was otherwise comfortable and the reception guy had plenty of personality. Just up the hill from the incredibly preserved gold rush town of Beechworth, all amenities are available including various dining options, shopping, etc."

"The property is old, but has everything you need for a great stay. We cooked dinner one night and went out to Tomahawk Restaurant the other (awesome food!) Great location beside the river and right next to town. "
