"I always enjoy staying here - nice location, friendly staff, quirky rooms, nice pub downstairs. Be warned that this is not a standard, generic hotel! An older building with "character", which I enjoy but others may not. Would not be good if you have mobility issues: lots of stairs (even in the rooms), small elevator, baths difficult to enter/exit. Internet OK but spotty in some locations. Walls are fairly thin (you can hear your neighbors talking) but I've never heard the pub patrons, even...

"We stayed over attending a wedding . The room was comfortable snd clean . The staff twere pleasant thoughtful and nothing was too much trouble . The food was excellent , although it was a wedding breakfast. The only grouse was the tea bags . We are Pg tips and it was Tetleys , so bring your own if you like a good brew .."

"The building itself seems old and is full of characters. Room doors are still open using old fashioned key, tiny tv screen like the old days. As I was only staying for 2 nights, there isn't a need for my room to be freshen up, though there isn't anywhere outside the door where you can hang the 'do not disturb' sign. The shower was a bit too tiny with the switch that switch outwards, you can easily switch off the shower by turning or turn up/down the heat."

"Lovely place, comfortable clean room and good breakfast. I didn’t eat in the restaurant / bar in the evening but it was packed and the food looked really good. I was welcomed at reception by a friendly helpful receptionist and the lady serving breakfast was also friendly and helpful. In all it was a really good experience and I will be returning. "

"The hotel is in such a beautiful setting! It was lovely to wake up and see the rolling hills of the Peak District in the morning. The staff were lovely and the breakfast in the morning was great. However, the high chair we were given for our little one at breakfast could have done with a wipe over. The lift wasn’t working during our stay which made things tricky with the car seat but it didn’t ruin the stay. Overall, a lovely stay and would highly recommend!"

"Have stayed here before for work, property is convenient with breakfast and evening meal included in the price. Options in the restaurant for evening meal are pretty good, but it is cafeteria style. No irons available for the rooms, but there are areas with irons and boards available. Rooms are generally okay but some areas where it is getting tired or damaged."
