"Hotel facilities are in excellent condition and clean. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. I was provided a free upgrade on one of my two nights there. Hotel is located a considerable distance from the main commercial area of the city (e.g. 1-hour walk from the government buildings), meaning to go anywhere effectively requires a taxi, but otherwise the hotel area felt safe and secure."

The staff were incredibly rude and incompetent, and the advertised services (room, running hot water, A/C, taxi service) were not made available or were double and triple charged. "PLEASE go elsewhere if you have the choice. Poor room service, the restaurant does not have a good decent menu. However, the people working at the hotel are kind and try their best with the limited tools and training they have been empowered with.There is no shuttle service attached to the hotel. You need to make personal arrangements or pay for a taxi."

"The Green Elephant is stunning. Conveniently located (if you have transport) for getting around Lilongwe but not directly in the middle. The staff are relaxed, friendly and professional and helped every day. They made me special vegetarian options on request, and let me help myself to other foods. The furnishings are top notch. There is lots of shared space around the place, and the only distractions are the noisy birds in the morning! Amazing hotel. If I could want for one thing, it would be...
