"I was on the 9th floor. The Bar was on the 8th. A little noisy late at night. This was due to one specific group on the terrace, not general music. Ideally you want 11th floor upwards. Good central location for some city exploring. "

The Wannian (Ten Thousand Years) temple on Emei Shan (Beautiful Mei Mountain) is a place of serene atmosphere. The quiet is impressive, the architecture is very nice and the atmosphere is imposing. As you enter the compound the first thing you see is a walled pond with fish, turtles, stones and money. Believers throw in paper money and coins, and monks take it out with a net. Inside the main pavilion is a statue of a golden Buddha on a white marble elephant. In front of this statue people bow, kneel and pray. In the back believers gently stoke the elephant's legs for reasons I didn't manage to figure out.
