"Our bedrooms were excellent.. recently modernised… the main hotel was ok service hit and miss but perhaps a skeleton crew as just after NewYear… had to request for the fires to be lit and the lighting was not good resulting in no ambiance…however the food was excellent.."

"This is overall a very nice hotel, and the room was very comfortable. My gripe is with the wi-fi. It’s hopeless. Disconnects and reconnects constantly, and is incredibly slow. I don’t actually understand how they can make it this bad. You’d have to start with a dial-up modem, but at least that might have a stable connection. "

"Splendid highland situation in a remote scenic area with good parking. Well appointed furniture and fittings and country views, although I could not see the lake from inside the hotel. Room warm on arrival but tv being upgraded so not available. Very good internet signal, Only a couple of guests as out of season so had personal service"

"Remote area, more of a very clean and warm bothy than a conventionalhotel. Facilities are basic, but as you would expect. Quite extensive for what you get at this time of year we stayed. Bring you own food, microwave available but no oven, a hob with 2 rings. I enjoyed staying. The place and room are very clean."

"This property was chartered in 1899, and offers an authentic experience. But that is not necessarily a bad thing! Yes, the room was tiny... basically a twin bed and a sink and not much more. But the shared bathroom was fine. Very clean and up to others I have had the enjoyment of sharing. "Quite an unusual experience for me, eating dinner with the owners, chef and others guests, then relaxing in the sitting room as opposed to spending the evening sat on my bed like a usual B&B. It really made it an enjoyable stay. Everyone was lovely, food was delicious."

"This large property is located in the heart of some amazing coastal sea paddling in Caithness. Massive sea cliffs, caves, arches, and sea birds just go on and on. This property allowed us to be all together, plenty of room for cooking, eating together and sleeping. Great views for after paddling cheer."
