"Luckily we arrived in daylight, as the road up to the Osteria zig-zagged in impossible hairpins up from the valley. It's possible that after dark and unlit we might just have turned around and headed for somewhere flat. However, if we had done we would have missed a completely unique experience. The hamlet of Anzonico clings to the side of an Alp and there is no vehicle access to the Osteria. Parking is in a lay by about 50 yards further up. "We were so pleasantly surprised by this wonderful little hotel! It was beautifully situated by Lake Como, within easy walking distance to the lake. It had a great little kitchen and was steps from a small grocery store that sold delicious food which we prepared and ate on our patio while the church bells chimed. "The residence was good, our room was on the corner so we had a view of the lake which was amazing. The room only had a sofa bed though for both of us but the website does warn about this.
