HI Castelo Branco - Pousada de Juventude - Hostel

1.0 star property
7.8 out of 10, Good, (14)
"Without doubt the worst hostel I have stayed in in Europe. Can't check in before 18:00. Rules for everything. Access during the day is difficult as the door is locked. Access is difficult due to the steep staircase. Shared toilet bathrooms are like you experienced at school, maybe worse. Staff treat you like a 13 year old school kid. Don't touch the microwave! No facilities for storing or preparing your own food. Sleep on a rock hard single mattress covered in plastic. Tv doesn't work or staff...

Learn more about Vila Velha de Rodao

Head to sights like Tagus International Natural Park and Portas de Ródão Natural Monument as you discover Vila Velha de Rodao.

The Portas de Ródão is a geological formation located near Vila Velha de Ródão, resulting from the intersection of the hard quartzitic relief of the Serra das Talhadas with the course of the Tagus river. In this place there is a narrowing of the valley, which runs between two steep walls, which reach about 170 m high, reminiscent of two "gates", one to the north in the district of Castelo Branco, Beira Baixa, and another to the south in the county Of Nisa, district of Portalegre, Alto Alentejo.

The Tajo dock began with erosion remontante, about 2.6 million years ago, taking advantage of tectonic accidents associated to the failure of the Pônsul, and it took place in several stages, reflected in fluvial terraces and platforms built by erosion, more visible in the right margin to Amount of the Ports.
